Hosting on codira.space
Put an app you built in Codira online, with its own web address, in a few clicks. No servers to set up and no separate hosting account.
What hosting is
When you launch, Codira packs up your project and sends it to our hosting. It’s built and put online at an address like my-app.codira.space. It stays online all the time, even when your computer is off.
- Hosting is for paid plans, and for anyone who has bought a credit pack. It isn’t available on the free trial.
- Every paid plan includes one Small app at no extra cost. Anything more is paid by the hour from your credits.
- One account can have up to 25 apps, and up to 5 reserved addresses it hasn’t launched yet.
- Your app needs to start a web server: Next.js, Express, Vite, Python, Go and the like all work. The server must use the port it’s given in the PORT setting, which most frameworks do on their own.
Launch your first app
- Open your project in Codira and open the Ship panel.
- In Launch on Codira, press Launch…. You can also type /launch in chat.
- Choose an address. Codira suggests one from your project’s name and tells you straight away if it’s free.
- Choose a size. Small is included in paid plans.
- Tick the secret settings your app needs (see below).
- Press Launch. You’ll see it go through Building, Starting and Live. The first build usually takes a few minutes.
When it’s live, the Ship panel shows the address with Open and Copy buttons. Codira remembers the link between this project and its app, so next time you’ll see Update instead of Launch.
Updating your app
Nothing goes live on its own. When you’re happy with your changes, press Update in the Ship panel. The current version keeps running while the new one builds, and visitors are switched over once it’s ready.
Versions and restoring
Every launch, update, restore and settings change is kept as a version. If an update goes wrong, press Restore next to an earlier version, in the Ship panel or on the dashboard. It goes through the usual build, then goes live.
Secret settings
Secret settings are things like API keys and passwords your app needs. Codira finds them in your project’s .env files and lets you tick which ones the live app gets.
- Your .env files are never uploaded. Only the values you tick are sent, and they’re stored encrypted by our hosting provider.
- We keep only the names of your secret settings, never the values, so nobody at Codira can read them.
- If Codira spots a key written straight into your code, it warns you before you launch, because anything in your code can end up public.
- To change them later, use Secret settings in the Ship panel or on the dashboard. The app restarts to pick them up.
Sizes and cost
Hosting is charged by the hour from the same credits you use for AI, where 1 credit is 1 cent. The prices below are for a full month; you only pay for the hours an app is running.
| Size | What you get | Credits a month | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 512 MB memory | 800 | Included with every paid plan (one app) |
| Medium | 1 GB memory | 1,600 | Busier sites and small APIs |
| Large | 2 GB memory | 4,000 | Apps with many visitors or heavy pages |
| X-Large | 4 GB memory, 2 CPUs | 8,000 | Demanding apps |
Your included app can be any size: you pay only the difference above Small. So an included app on Medium costs 800 credits a month. You can change size at any time from the Ship panel or the dashboard, and the app restarts on the new size.
If you run out of credits
- Credits are bought in advance and aren’t refundable, so buy what you expect to use.
- We email you when your credits are running low, and again when they run out.
- Your apps keep running for 3 days while we remind you.
- After that, apps that cost credits pause. Your included app keeps running.
- Nothing is deleted straight away. Paused apps restart within the hour once you add credits.
- A paused app is kept for 60 days. We email you twice before then; after that the app and its address are deleted.
Using your own domain
Every app has its codira.space address, and you can add up to 5 of your own domains too, such as www.mysite.com or mysite.com.
- Open Custom domains in the Ship panel, or on the app’s page in the dashboard.
- Type your domain and press Add.
- Codira shows the one or more records to add where you bought the domain. A www.-style domain needs one record; a bare domain like mysite.com needs four.
- Once the records work, the domain turns Active and HTTPS is set up for you. That can take from a few minutes to a few hours.
Team apps
If you’re on a team, the launch form asks who the app is for: Just me or your team. A team app is paid for by the team’s owner, and every team gets one Small app included.
- Every member can see a team app, update it, restart it, restore an earlier version and read its logs.
- Owners and admins can also change its size, secret settings and domains, and delete it.
The hosting dashboard
Everything except launching can also be done from any browser at codira.com/dashboard/hosting, or with the Manage button in the Ship panel. For each app you’ll find:
- This month’s cost so far, and an estimate for the whole month.
- Traffic: the data your app sent each day, how busy it is and how much memory it uses. If it’s nearly full, we’ll suggest a bigger size.
- Versions with Restore, build and live logs, and a Restart button.
- Size, custom domains, secret settings and Delete.
We also check every app every few minutes. If one stops answering, we email you once, and again when it’s back.
Safety checks and review
To keep codira.space trustworthy, every launch is checked automatically. A launch is held for a person to look at if, for example, its address imitates a well-known brand, it has a login page naming another company, or it links to a site known for phishing or malware.
A held launch shows as Waiting for review. It’s usually checked within a few hours during the day, or by the next morning overnight. If your app is already live, the current version keeps running while the update waits.

Deleting an app
On the app’s page in the dashboard, press Delete… and type the app’s address to confirm. It goes offline for good, stops costing anything, and its address is freed up. This can’t be undone.
When a launch fails
- Press Show details to see the build log.
- Press Fix it with AI and Codira reads the log and fixes the project for you, using your normal credits. Then press Update.
- A common cause is an app with no start or build command. Another is a server that doesn’t use the port in PORT.
- A failed update never takes down the version that’s already live.
